If your yard sign for your favorite candidate is still on your lawn, it’s time to take it down. New York State says they should come down within three days after the election. Tompkins County says these yard signs are recyclable at the Recycling and Solid Waste Center!
The yard signs shouldn’t be put in your curbside bin, says Tompkins County Recycling and Materials Management communications and administrative coordinator Geoff Dunn.
The wire sign holders and stakes should be removed before the sign is recycled. The metal can be recycled for free at the scrap metal area of the Recycling and Solid Waste Center at 160 Commercial Avenue in Ithaca.
Whether the signs themselves are plastic film or Coroplast, they, too, can be brought to the RSWC for recycling at no charge.
